Saudia intent to double destinations

Over the next five years, Saudia intends to expand its network to more than 140 destinations, up from nearly 70

. The airline's goal is to be among the world's top five airlines by the end of 2027.

Saudia target to increase its fleet from the current 188 aircraft to approximately 300 by the end of 2032. To meet growing demand, driven by the Kingdom's emergence as a global hub and its preparation to host major events like Expo 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup, the airline also plans to double its destinations.

In a Socrates podcast interview, Al-Omar stated that Saudia will receive 191 new aircraft by the end of 2032. This includes 100 electric aircraft, intended for both fleet expansion and replacements. Deliveries of these new aircraft are scheduled to begin by the end of 2025.

Al-Omar indicated that the purchase of these aircraft will be financed through a combination of bank loans, aircraft resales, and leasing. Currently, leased aircraft account for 40% of Saudia's fleet.

Addressing concerns about high ticket prices, particularly given Saudia's status as a national carrier, Al-Omar clarified that the airline does not receive any special government subsidies and purchases fuel at the same market prices as its competitors in Saudi Arabia.

Saudia is also investing in cabin upgrades. A program to replace all 15,000 aircraft seats, which Al-Omar described as "incomputable," will be carried out from the end of 2025 until the end of 2027. In addition, Saudia will introduce a new "premium economy" class, offering passengers more comfortable seating.
